Memorial Day Weekend

Joe & I made the delightful 8-hour trek to PA this past Memorial Day Weekend to visit with many family and friends. Mom & Cooper D also made their way up by plane and we all got to spend a nice 4-day weekend together!

On Saturday, the Peck family decided to rent bike cruisers and ride the C&O Bicycle Path. The weather was perfect and we had the best time! Although Nanny was a bit concerned that the bike helmut would mess her hair up, everything turned out wonderful and we got to spend some much needed quality family time together.

Sunday morning we were off to Needmore Bible church to meet up w/the Smartts'. After church, we had lunch at the Lockhouse in Hancock, MD and got to catch up with one another. Heather, Grammy, my dad, me, and good ol' Joe had a picture taken for the books. It was so good to see all of them!

And what's a trip to PA w/out a good carnival?! Sunday night, the Pecks all went to the Boonsboro carnival. Cooper D and Joe were all about playing some carnival games; however, Cooper D was the only one that won any prizes. He racked up a blow-up hammer, a stuffed animal dolphin, and Mom's favorite...a GOLDFISH! We were all more than happy to welcome Squiggly the Goldfish to the family.

Our Dog Friends

Nina The Great
Nina & Puppy Brady
Mr. Sampson & Ms. Maggie
Joe & I LOVE some dogs and since we don't have any of our own, we thoroughly enjoy dog-sitting for everyone we know. Mr. Sampson (the pug) and Ms. Maggie (the poodle) are two of our oldies but goodies. We've been dog-sitting them for a couple years now. Brady (lab/chow mix w/the cutest blue tongue) is a brand new puppy that our friends/neighbors just got and we get to see him all the time! Nina (the BIG GREAT DANE) is the newest addition of dogs we love to watch. She's a beast but probably the most gentle out of all of them.

Topsail Island Triathlon

This past Saturday, Joe entered his second sprint triathlon. It was held at Topsail Island that is about 45 minutes away. His buddy and training partner, Josh (see picture), also participated this year. The race consisted of a 750 meter ocean swim, 8 mile bike, and 3 mile run. They both ended up placing in their age group...Josh got first and Joe placed SECOND! Way to go Joe! This being only his 2nd ever triathlon, we're all very proud of him. After he went up to receive his prize and have his picture taken on the podium, he looks at me w/a big smile and says, "Well this is just going to feed the bug." Looks like there will be a whole lot more bike parts around here and a lot less jewelry. I guess Yurman will have to wait!

3 Years...& Going Strong

May 7 was Joe and I's 3 year anniversary. Go us! Joe sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers at work and then we exchanged gifts in the evening. Later we went downtown to have dinner on the balcony at Riverboat Landing. It was such a great day and we're so happy that we found each other and had the chance to spend the last 3 years together. Here's to another great year!

Mom & Cooper D in ILM

So this past weekend, Mom and Cooper D made the fun-filled plane ride up from Naples, FL to visit Joe & I in sunny Wilmington! How exciting! Everyone had a blast and how could you not?! We had trips planned to every major hot spot. We started out with swinging by the Children's Museum and the Serpentarium. Then we ended with the Fort Fisher aquarium, a ferry boat ride to Southport, and a trip to the beach.
Joe & Cooper rekindled their 'best buds' status with many talks of soldiers, tattoos, and...Nacho Libre! I never knew a 5-year-old could LOVE Jack Black so much. The ever-so-hilarious Nacho phrase 'ANACONDA SQUEEZE' was heard being shouted back and forth every night before bed.

We all had so much fun that I can't wait for them to come back up again! Maybe next time we can drink more Mona Vie and not eat so much ice cream! Here's to the next time we can hang out again and until then...
ANACONDA SQUEEEEEZE!
