Long, Tall Sally

Yes, we know.  This outfit is way too cute.  And way too funny.
It came to Emilija courtesy of Pappy C & Grandma Tina.

But what I'd like to point out, more importantly, is Em's height.
She is stretching from the middle of one carpet square WAY into another.
At her 2-month check-up she was over two feet long.
Nana says it perfectly, 'Our long, tall Sally.'

As Dr. Calquhoun was giving us her growth percentiles,
'50th in weight (10lb, 8oz)'
'84th for head circumference (40cm)'
she paused when she got to height because Em was,
'off the charts'
The doctor's chart literally didn't go as high as 2' for a 2-month-old.
Hilarious.

And as I'm looking at her picture above in all its 4-leaf glory,
I'm pretty sure she's off-the-charts in cuteness too.
Let's have a photo encore.

Two Months Old

2-Month Onesie made special for Emilija by Teta Nicole. (Hvala puno!)
Can you believe it, Silly Silly?!  You're another month older already.

I keep flipping back and forth between your 1-month pictures and these 2-month ones and I can't believe how much you've grown.  This time together is already going too fast.  I wish there was a slow-motion button.

Dad & I are completely obsessed with you and miss you when you're not with us.  Many times as you nap we find ourselves filling the void by looking at pictures or videos we have taken of you.  We can't seem to look at your face enough.

We think you are perfect.

Your last feeding of the day is between 7p and 8p.  Dad feeds you a bottle of freshly expressed milk, burps you, and then gets you ready for bed.  He wraps you in your favorite leopard-print swaddle and then rocks you.  You fall asleep on his chest every night.

You sleep until 4a or 5a in the morning.  You're a real sleeping champion.  This is a great gift to us.  Dad & I get our fill of computer time and television time and most importantly, sleep time.

After that first feeding in the early morning I never lie you back down in your bassinet.  I place you in our bed and lay my head on the mattress right next to yours.  We look into each others' eyes as you fall back asleep.  Even after your eyes are closed, mine aren't.  I continue gazing at you and glance up at dad sleeping too and wonder how I got so lucky in this life.

You smile and laugh ALL THE TIME.  It is the sweetest thing.

You have discovered your mouth and tongue.  You are quite the conversationalist always chatting away.  You blow bubbles and drool all over your chin.  One time you even mimicked me by making a 'clucking' sound.

You also LOVE to kick your feet.  You kick, kick, kick all the time.  Some times you'll even watch your legs and feet moving away and start to giggle.  I hope you'll always have the ability to make yourself laugh.

You go everywhere with us: grocery store, mall, bank, restaurants, friends' houses.  But your favorite place is a trip to the park.   You love the fresh air.

We still think you are the most beautiful baby we've ever seen.

We love you like crazy.

Mimi, Mama, & Mila

We love Mimi.
To say the least.

She flew up from Florida the day I went into labor.
And was there the day Emilija was born.

She went to all of the first doctors' visits.
She helped Joe & I become parents.
She held Mila while I showered.
She made us breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
She washed our laundry including Joe's skivvies.
She dusted our china hutch.

Then she flew back up last week to do it ALL OVER AGAIN.
That Mimi is amazing.
And resilient.

Mimi's Butterfly

Mimi called one day, all in giggles, exclaiming, "I've got the PERFECT photo op."
Patiently, Emilija & I waited for Mimi's arrival to see her surprise.
Moments after unzipping her suitcase, Mimi presented us with a magic wand and beautiful butterfly wings.
Emilija took to her new look right away.
They must have felt just like those angel wings Em left behind when she came down from heaven.

Mimi Comes to Visit

Mimi is in town.
YAY!
And just in time for Emilija's 7-week birthday!

Em has been spoiled with new books, many walks in her Bugaboo, and lots of Mimi Kisses.
Joe & I have been treated with amazing dinners every evening.

Emilija is going on ten pounds.
She officially has a muffin-top in her too-snug can't-be-wasted newborn diapers.

She is 23.5" long.
We (Mama, Mimi, & Tata) have kissed every inch.

And as you can tell from the picture, Emilija is all smiles these days.
Ear to ear.
